Last Christmas, we decided to spend our time together in fabulous Las Vegas. Jord and I have always been super independent and as we have gotten older, we have enjoyed spending our time off together doing our own thing. To each their own, for sure. For us, putting our marriage first and being really intentional with our time off has been critical to our successful marriage. We decided to go to Vegas because we knew it would be less crowded due to covid and we wanted a break from our tiny apartment. We were very intentional in our decision and, honestly, it was such a breath of fresh air!
Vegas Musts
Here are some of my favorite things about our Christmas Vegas trip:
You must stay at...
...the Cosmopolitan. Like seriously.. stay there. I found a killer deal for our trip on Priceline and now, I refuse to stay anywhere else! The Cosmopolitan is the best for many reasons. My top ones are: location, location, and ummm location! Some of the best food on the Strip is at the Cosmopolitan. It is in the heart of the Strip so basically anything you want to do is within walking distance. Because you are in the heart of Vegas, you have the best views too (even if you are not facing the Bellagio fountains)! Also, their room service is :chefs-kiss:
You must eat at...
...Eggslut. Classic morning brekkie. Delicious egg sandwiches.. You really can’t go wrong with anything there.
...The Juice Standard. My go to FOR SURE. I love celery juice and would grab a juice each morning of our time there. I love that there is a healthy spot amid all the other delicious over the top food nearby.
…Secret Pizza. A literal hidden gem at the Cosmopolitan, it’s down a random hallway and not highly advertised. Located near the Blue Ribbon restaurant on the third floor. The hallway is lined with album art and the actual pizza stop isn’t very large. I highly recommend grabbing pizza to go and trying a classic white pizza!
...The District. They are known for their doughnuts but we believe their best food are their cinnamon rolls. They crystalize the sugar on top and it is soooo sweet and delicious.
...Milk Bar. This is a classic. If you haven’t heard of Milk Bar, you must be sleeping under a rock. K well that might be harsh but seriously go try the crack pie and enjoy some of their unique desserts!
...Sakana Sushi. You have to go to this off-Strip location. Their all you can eat prices are amazing and their quality astounding! For example, their nigiri was more fish than rice, which is very rare in all you can eat sushi places.
You must...
...walk the Strip. It is a great form of exercise and an awesome opportunity to people watch as you go around the Strip. Highly recommend a good pair of broken in running/walking shoes because before you know it you will have walked 10,000 steps and explored new parts on the Strip.
...visit the outlets. Vegas has some of the best outlets I have ever been to. My personal favorites are the ones on the north side, Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, with stores like J. Crew, Nike, and Kate Spade. The Las Vegas South Premium Outlets are good too, I have just been going to the North outlets forever.
...race fast cars around a track. We have wanted to do this forever and we finally just went for it. Watch SpeedVegas’ deals because we got a stellar price on gift cards that we used to book our session. If you are going to do it, you have to go at least 10 laps, because the first five you are just getting the hang of the track. We also purchased the recording and I think that is well worth it as well!
...go on a helicopter ride or two. We booked through Maverick and had the best time. Originally we did a last minute Vegas Strip tour at night and it was absolutely amazing. It was the first time either Jordan or I had ever been on a helicopter and it was just stunning! The views are amazing! We had so much fun, and all shows were cancelled due to covid, so we decided to go again. This time we chose the Wind Dancer Sunset tour which goes from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. On our first helicopter ride, we asked our pilot which Grand Canyon flight was the best and he suggested this one. It did not disappoint! It is a lengthier flight and when you get to the Canyon you can walk around a bit. We sat in the front on the way back and got that beautiful Vegas sunset view.
There are so many things to do, see, and eat in Vegas, it is hard to go wrong. But in case you go when there are no show options these have been our favorite things to do while there. PLUS all the best eats!
